Calling a plumber a after hours will cost more and this puts people off. It’s a good idea to ask yourself if there is a simple way to fix the problem so the plumber can visit during the day. We always recommend clients to turn off the water at the mains stop cock to their property, if they know where it is and are confident to do so. If you need to stop a leak or flood quickly, you need to try and cut off the water flow. In some cases your plumber may have installed stops valves on the pipes, these are usually found close to the unit the water pipe connects to. In older properties, you may only have a single stopcock which is usually tucked away in a cupboard or it may even be outside your property.
