To unblock a drain yourself before you call a plumber you can try using caustic soda, or sodium hydroxide. Both are strong chemicals that will dissolve most blockages clogging up your sink.
If you want to try an alternative method with pantry cupboard items you can combine half a cup of table salt and half a cup of baking soda. Pour the mixture down the sink hole with a teaspoon trying to get as much down as possible.
Leave the salt and baking soda to sit for 15-20 minutes before pouring a kettles worth of boiling hot water into the drain. Be careful not to burn yourself or damage the pipes.
